  7.     As host of her own talk show, Oprah Winfrey knows how to
  8. handle controversy. That skill came in handy as she produced a
  9. TV movie based on Gloria Naylor's novel The Women of Brewster
  10. Place. The four-hour drama, which airs over ABC in March, cast
  11. several popular black actresses as neighbors struggling through a
  12. '50s urban tenement. Among them, posing with Oprah, are Cicely
  13. Tyson, Robin Givens, Lonette McKee, Jackee and Lynn Whitfield.
  14. More than once, Oprah, who made the movie before her famous
  15. diet, had to cool things when egos heated up. Recalls Jackee: "I
  16. said to Oprah, `In years to come, you'll learn how to be a diva
  17. just like the rest of us.'"  But Oprah knows that too many divas
  18. can spoil the plot.
